• One of the first avenues of photography that I explored was photojournalism while I was working for an online newspaper, thecity1.com. Since then, I have earned a degree in photography, and have had the opportunity to take photographs for local businesses and organizations, including the Morrison Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer’s Dance Center, Donnybrook Bakery Cafe, The City Rebar, Inc., and Cross Creek Golf and Estates. For one year, I photographed portraits of Southern Illinois University faculty and staff. You can view my portfolio, and additional photographic work, by visiting my photography gallery or my blog.

  • I began designing websites when I was around 12 years old, and since then, I have had the pleasure of working on, redesigning, and/or creating websites for many businesses and organizations, including thecity1.com: Morrison Online, Morrison Area Community Unit District #6, Jennifer's Dance Center, The City Rebar, the Morrison Chamber of Commerce, Donnybrook Bakery Cafe, and the Morrison Area Development Corporation. At SIU, I was a webmaster for SIU Sustainability, redesigned the Big Muddy Film Festival's website, and also designed websites for student-run television shows Studio A and alt.news 26:46.

  • Through working at Arclight Productions, an award-winning production company based in Hollywood, I gained experience as an assistant editor and a lead assistant editor. I assisted editors working on a feature length film (Country: Portraits of an American Sound), two short films (Sink or Swim: Designing for a Sea Change and Emerging), commercials, and electronic press kits. Prior experience includes working on two student-run television shows that aired on a local PBS station at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For one of the programs, alt.news 26:46, I was able to gain experience in editing, producing, directing, camera operation, audio operation, and art direction. A documentary segment and a comedy sketch I produced and edited were featured in a College Television Award-winning episode.

  • While working at thecity1.com, I was given the opportunity to utilize graphic design to design and post small animated graphic banners as a way to advertise local businesses and generate revenue for the newspaper. I also would combine photography and graphic design to create headers for the website. Since then, I've made display boards for a surveying firm, designed art for banners on display in downtown Morrison, Illinois, created logos and buttons for websites, and have used graphic design for various other projects.
